School Books, wish had read them the way they were supposed to…..

Most of us still do not know the importance of uniforms that we wore, books that we read, teachers we idolized and friends  we made.

School is an institution which is meant to shape kids into human beings, beings who know the meaning of life. Most of us reading this article or blog whatever you choose to call it have had the liberty of attending one or more of the best schools in their cities, something that grown ups do not back up from bragging when in friend circles. There are N number of phrases and idioms that yell and tell the importance of teachers and school books in one’s life. But there are only a few who find the true meaning of studies and course materials that we go through when in school. Most of us still do not know the importance of uniforms that we wear, the books that we read, teachers that we idolize and friends that we make.

I in no way am biased towards the literature books that we read, history that we mug up but yeah I am an admirer of the writers that do not leave any stone unturned to make us every bit of humans we should be. In the most primary of classes we are taught to share food, respect our elders and be humble to the one’s around us. But as soon as the real world kicks in, most of us rather all of us barely remember the classes we had attended, lessons we were taught.

This completely is not our fault at all. Let’s take an example of kids who live in joint families and try to find out what has never earlier been spoken of. A kid from a joint family learns in school that sharing food is the best gesture to offer to the world, but the very same day he is told by his parents who brought a few burgers not to share them with other kids of the family. The kid at first wonders as to why all the drama but eventually learns to live with the same in the long run.

As the kid grows and reaches classes that make or break business for the school or the institution, teachers start emphasizing on the need of good marks. Meanwhile, the importance of the precious words written by writers go for a toss. There was a chapter named ‘the tribute’, a drama named as the three ghosts of Christmas’ which most of us read in the X th standard, we remember more of them because they were essential for scoring big in the board exams and not for the message they conveyed. Similarly there are a lot of other good reads in different language books that we went through because we had to get that percentage to qualify for a good college.

The results of the same are clearly visible to one and all. India has produced some of the best scientists, engineers who work for Google and face-book. But there has been a minor glitch in course of time, India, no not just India but most parts and countries of the world have failed to create people who care for the fact that explains our existence on the planet. We today, do not act as we want to but behave as the media and the press wants us to.

The importance of mathematics, marketing and engineering has made us vulnerable to our own selves. Most of us are the preys of the tactics that we ourselves use to hunt clients for our organization. The importance of these and the contribution that these have made for the betterment of human kind is not comparable to anything else but the lack of respect that we have shown to the literature truly reflects in the lives that we lead today. Perhaps, if we knew why we were reading those literature lessons, history and civics, things could have been different today.

Those hard five days I live every month…..

Sorry if i used the wrong picture, but only an explosion suits some people's hearing capabilities these days....
Sorry if I used the wrong picture, but only an explosion suits some people’s hearing capabilities these days….

Women as girlfriends and as wives are trolled for their anger. But there is always more than what meets the eye at the very first strike. Boyfriends and husbands who really care for their better halves are always aware of that certain period of the month when their ladies go through something that we scientifically know as menstruation period. A period which is full of hormonal imbalances, full of blood that comes out of the female organs that males otherwise love the most. There ‘is’ only a few number of the tall dark handsome tribe who understand what a women really goes through in those hard five days. Others are just victims of movies they watch and jokes they hear centering women.

History stands proof to what women are capable of yet we males only talk of their short-tempered nature, we forget what they sacrifice for the sake of their families, for the sake of their children, their brothers and most often their husbands.Despite all that they do, we men fail to act as the hand in need, shoulder in need when those five days approach their work calendars. Science has proven that women go under the most ravaging of hormonal imbalances during that time, but we want them not to complain because we in ourselves are the intelligent of two sexes. There are numerous instances that prove the statement to be correct otherwise but let’s just stick to one that proves that women worldwide are better drivers than men, go dig. It would have been easier to understand if our undergarments were dripped in blood like her’s are.

It indeed is strange that how we men tend not to work complaining of minor injuries we go through and she working despite being going through what we might not be able to speculate as far as we live, as long as we go. Talking to someone I know, I came to know that she thinks of those five days as the price she pays for being able to carry life within. The statement merely or exceedingly( depending upon you) means her ability to be able to give birth to a child. I am not a believer but guess that her patience and endurance levels made sure that even the omnipresent gifts her the duty of continuing life on the planet.

This post in the end will look incomplete because I want it to look that way and ask my fellow males, what have they done recently to make sure that the woman of their lives are happy?

Make sure to treat her the right way in those five days. Try to act as you will if your pants were full f blood stains.

Chocolates and coffee help, so do warm drinks. Make sure you ask her out for that favorite coffee of hers or if possible prepare a cup of tea yourself.

Listen to her, she might just tell you the biggest secrets of her life. Do not just listen to respond but instead listen to understand. She understands you better after your mother, learn to understand her better after her father.

She goes through cramps that are lot worse than the headaches that our bosses give us. She has to run to toilet more times than we go in a week yet she manages to smile. It is our duty to make sure that her smile stays the way she wants it to be.

Character as We see It….

character

If beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, then why doesn’t the character lie in the eye of the one judging?

Two girls in their mid 20’s were standing aside a fast food joint located in heart of Delhi, wearing short dresses and vibrant nail polishes. There were no eyes as far as I remember that would have missed the view. But the story was something else than what it seemed at first. We, a group of friends had ordered a round of delicacies with some nuclear hot snacks and while we were waiting for the order to come across, I heard a conversation about the girls on the very next table. It was a mixed group of people from both the genders. They had laptop bags and a bunch of books on the table and were going through some sort of preparation, whether for a job, a project or a college assignment, I am not sure.
“Look at those girls”, the boy in the group said. “ Do they have any decency at all? This is the type of the people who bring shame to the society.” The girl sitting on the same desk to my amusement replied, “ I think they live away from their native place and hence, are crediting the situation to its fullest, their parents would not have allowed them to do so”. The boy jumped into the conversation again and advised the group to continue with the work they were doing as he thought such bad character-ed people were the least he was bothered about. The conversation stopped but the glares did not. And that was it, a pair of clothes with some vibrant colors were good enough for this lot to judge people’s character. Something that even the most learned of people would have taken months to estimate. But this is the truth that we live with everyday, we judge people on how they dress, what they do and how they behave in the public.
If clothes defined character, politicians would have been the best of them all. In fact, all the above traits if in case defined character politicians would have always topped the charts. But the case is completely paradox of the statement. I still can not figure the connection between the dresses the girls were wearing and their native place. All I could come up with is the assumption that the girl who commented in the first place would love to wear the same dress if she was away from her native place. The group was more interested in others than they were in their work. This is something of an identical situation for most of us. We are more into others than we are into ourselves. We find a lot of preachers who do not miss a chance when it comes to being the social police, but find it really tough when time demands to put money where their mouth is. It indeed is a human tendency to react in a negative manner at first. We do not see what is there but we see what we want to see or what the media and our leaders want us to see. If the beauty is in the eye of the beholder then why character is not in the eye of the one judging it.
I believe the character of the people commenting on the two lovely ladies was more at fault. Their eyes after regular intervals came back to one particular table. Whatever happened to the ‘see no bad, speak no bad and hear no bad’ theory given to us by the great Mahatma Gandhi. The question that I shut this post at reads If something is bad, than why do we look at it time and again? And just for the records here, India is among top countries where search for porn is the most. Guess that leaves us all bad character-ed!
